The Book Club: Top Mindset Books

Hello, hello. And a very warm welcome to my online book club. Come on in and get comfortable…

This is the first in a series of blogs to share and chat about books. This edition it’s the turn of books on mindset.

Being self employed it brilliant. But when you are your business, it’s incredibly important to look after your mind and health. I’m on a big journey with this and constantly looking to improve the two. I often turn to books to do this.

So, in this blog I’m going to share with you three that have transformed my mind, life and business…

You are a Badass by jen sincero

Oh yes you are.

‘How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life’

Everything is split into bitesize chunks and with easy to read language, you can fly through this book in a couple of days or dip in and out when required. I actually sat and read this from start to finish in one sitting. Yes, it really is that good!

Jen has a way with words. It’s almost as if you’re chatting to a friend over a cocktail or two. She’s your pocket cheerleader encouraging you to make a better life for yourself, whatever that means to you.

It’s both practical and funny. You’ll have a great time reading it and should come away feeling empowered to live that awesome life.

If you’re new to the self-help book, this is a great place to start.

The Power of now By Eckhart Tolle

Another must-read.

Sometimes being self-employed means I can get caught up in the past and future rather than focusing on the present moment. This is something I’ve fought with in my personal life and it definitely extends deeply into my business at times.

The Power of Now teaches us to live in the present moment. It’s an incredibly useful book in learning how to make the most of the time we’re in and slow down completely. We learn how to recognise thought patterns and beliefs we’ve held onto.

When we are able to control our mind - rather than be controlled by it, we’re able to take back our lives and our businesses.

It’s easy to follow and I guarantee you’ll find something that resonates deeply with you.

The Miracle Morning by HaL Elrod

The principles of Elrod’s book have the power to improve your life and your business. It’s simple but it works.

I can’t tell you the times in the past that I would roll out of bed and head straight to my desk bleary eyed. And what can I expect from my day? Peanuts of course.

This book is one of my favourite phrases ‘get up, dress up, show up’ taken to the next level. It’s all about building into your day some time to work on you. The result is feeling better emotionally and physically.

You may have to look past a promotion of his own business. But when you do, you’ll see a set of simple yet effective techniques that can transform your life.

It’s all about taking time each morning to work on you. But as he stresses, it doesn’t need to be the morning. Taking an hour out of your day to work on your health, mind and knowledge can take your own life and business to the next level.

So that’s what I’ve read - and loved! How about what’s in the pile waiting to be read?

1. The 4 Hour Work Week

2. Think and Grow Rich

3. The Chimp Paradox

Have you read any of these? What do you think? I’d absolutely LOVE to hear your thoughts and key takings from the books below.
